This statement is a response to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015. It outlines the La Bottega modern slavery and human trafficking statement for the financial year ended 31 December 2023. It also outlines the changes to our UK business over the past year & how we have taken steps to prevent any Modern Slavery as a result of these changes.

La Bottega is committed to understanding, identifying and eliminating all potential modern slavery risks related to our business.

About Us

La Bottega is a creative hub of storytelling for the hotel industry. We aim to be acknowledged in our markets by providing a bespoke guest experience and unforgettable design narratives, turning each property into a compelling story. We supply both private label & licensed brand hotel amenities and goods to luxury hotels across Europe, the Americas, Middle East & Asia.

Our Supply Chain

La Bottega looks to work with the best manufacturers and suppliers to deliver our bespoke guest experience. Our supply chain includes manufacturers in China, Turkey, Mexico, Italy, Egypt, Malaysia and Armenia and for the main ones we have long-standing for more than 10 years. La Bottega is committed to continuously improving its practices to identify and eliminate any slavery and human trafficking in its business and supply chains, and to acting ethically and with integrity in all its business relationships.

In 2023, we have begun to warehouse our products in the UK with a third party warehousing & logistics partner. As part of this new & important relationship, we have ensured that their ways of working and policies are aligned to ours. With our partner operating a zero tolerance approach to modern slavery. We have also visited the warehouse & have daily contact with the team at the third party, operating as part of their extended team. On top of the warehousing agreement, we have also begun working with this partner to provide haulage and logistics services for our business, due to our strong alignment & collaboration.

Our People

As a company, La Bottega employs ca. 300 people globally, with a growing team of 4 in the UK. One of La Bottega’s founding principles is recognizing human contribution and protecting dignity. Respecting human rights and promoting employee wellbeing is deeply rooted within the core values and principles of our family-founded Company.

Our UK offices are in third party co-working spaces, where our team have dedicated space to work, with adequate health, safety and wellbeing policies. Our supplier Fora, has a diligent Modern Slavery & Human Trafficking Policy, as well as an Ethics Code, Whistleblowing Policy and Humans Rights Policy, as well as training in line with our expectations and standards.

The following measures are being or have been implemented to ensure we take steps to mitigate our risks to modern slavery and human trafficking:

  • Where possible, we work directly with suppliers and visit their premises, to both build long-standing relationships but also ensure we are happy with the ethical standards of their working environment.

  • Through our recruitment process, our employees are free to accept or reject their offer of employment, and original government-issued identification documents are shared.

  • We have a quality assurance and control policy which indicates our minimum standards and a team which monitors this based in our Headquarters.

  • In our company handbook, we outline both our modern slavery statement, requesting our employees to sign up to this, as well as the whistleblowing policy & procedure.

  • All of our UK team are compensated a fair & reasonable wage, with clear job descriptions & employment contracts.

We consistently look to identify areas of improvement in our ways of working and work force and provide appropriate training to address these needs. This is no different with our policy on

preventing slavery and human trafficking. All our employees need to have a good understanding of the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking and we are taking steps to ensure this. Those who are closer to our supply chains will receive the most detailed and targeted training. Our intent is to monitor suppliers who we believe present higher modern slavery risks in our supply chain and we will do this on an ongoing basis.

We will continue to review the ways in which we can develop new processes for recognizing and reporting risks in our business.

This statement had been formally approved by our UK GM, Group CEO & Group Operations Director.
